EDI Drives Zero Tolerance for GBV as Part of 16 Days of Activism

The Entrepreneurship Development Institute (EDI) proudly hosted a powerful session titled “A Society with Zero Tolerance for Violence for Generation Building” at its Headquarters in Addis Ababa on Friday, December 12, 2025.

This event was organized as a crucial part of our commitment to the ongoing #16DaysofActivism Against Gender-Based Violence (GBV) campaign for 2025.

The session featured an insightful presentation from Derese of the Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC). We extend our sincere gratitude to the amazing panelists for their valuable contributions and expert perspectives: Getenet Abebe from the Ministry of Women and Social Affairs, Kumneger Fikire (PhD), Tiruye Alemu (PhD), and Yeshimebet Teklu. Your timely presence and dedication to this cause were highly appreciated.

Extending our involvement beyond the session, EDI also conducted an impactful visit to the AWSAD safe house in Addis Ababa. This opportunity allowed us to witness the vital efforts of AWSAD in supporting every woman and girl affected by gender-based violence. Following this inspiring visit, we discussed to establish a partnership and cooperate with AWSAD on girls' rights, particularly focusing on GBV prevention and support.
